3/4 cup of uncooked rice (long grain)
2 ½ cups of water
1 can of tomato paste (6 ounces)
1 bay leaf
¼ tsp of pepper
¼ tsp of salt
1/3 tsp of thyme (dried)
1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper
1 lb of cooked shrimp
Instructions
Put the oil in a skillet and set it to medium heat. Add the ham and let it brown. Throw in the bell pepper and onions. Add the garlic. Keep cooking until it gets tender. Now add in the tomatoes, rice and bay leaf. Throw in the thyme, cayenne pepper, tomato paste and water.

Put the butter in a saucepan. Heat it. Add the onions, garlic and bell pepper. Stir until the onion turns brown. Throw in the ham and rice. Continue stirring until the rice is covered with oil. Add the salt, thyme and tomatoes. Pour in the chicken broth. Add the hot sauce. Let it simmer for 25 minutes (covered).
