Ingredients
For the sauce, you need to buy a jar of grape jelly. Add to that, you also need to bring a bottle of chili sauce to further enhance the taste of the dish as well as give it a little bit of spice. For the meatballs, bring in ¼-cup of plain breadcrumbs, ½-teaspoon pepper and a teaspoon of seasoning salt. In addition, prepare 1½-teaspoon garlic powder and 2-pounds of ground chuck. Once you have these items, you can start the cooking process right away.
Steps
Turn your oven on and set it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. As it heats up, get a clean bowl. Start by mixing ground chuck with the breadcrumbs, pepper, seasoning salt and garlic powder. Be sure to mix them well for a more balanced taste and flavor in the end. Form meatballs out of the mixture. Arrange them nicely on top of a baking dish. Put it right inside the pre-heated oven and then bake for about 30 to 35 minutes.
While baking the meatballs, you can move on and prepare the special sauce for this particular dish. Get a saucepan and then mix grape jelly with the chili sauce. Turn on the stove and set to medium heat. Melt the jelly. After cooking the meatballs, take the baking dish out of the oven. Drain the meatballs and then transfer them right into the saucepan. Mix and coat them with the sauce and then serve. Enjoy.
Alternative Sauce
Aside from the special grape jelly with chili sauce mixture, you can also use a sour cream sauce. If you wish to try this one, place the frying pan on top of the stove. Set it to medium heat. Put 2-tablespoons butter. While it melts, slowly add at least 2-tablespoons of flour. Wait for the mixture to become bubbly. After that, put ½-teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, a dash of cayenne pepper and ½-teaspoon salt. Of course, do not forget to add a cup of beef broth.
While cooking, stir the ingredients well until they become bubbly and thickened. Get a large bowl and then put a cup of dairy sour cream on it. Slowly pour the sauce and then stir until the flavors are blended well. Serve this special sauce with the meatballs and then enjoy.
